Diwali 2023: A Festival of Lights, Prosperity, and Joy

 

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is a Hindu jubilee that celebrates the palm of light over darkness, good over wrong, and knowledge over ignorance. It’s one of the most popular and extensively famed carnivals in India and is also celebrated by Hindus all over the world. 

 

 Diwali is celebrated on the darkest night of the lunar month of Kartika, which generally falls between October and November. The jubilee lasts for five days, each of which has its own special significance. 

 

 On the first day of Diwali, people clean their homes and embellish them with diyas( oil painting lights), candles, and flowers. They also prepare special sweets and dishes to be participated with family and musketeers. 

 

 On the alternate day of Diwali, people worship Goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth and substance. They also perform aarti for their elders and exchange gifts. 

 

 The third day of Diwali is the main day of the jubilee. On this day, people light diyas over their homes and businesses. They also burst firecrackers and celebrate the palm of light over darkness. 

 

 On the fourth day of Diwali, people worship Lord Ganesha, the Hindu god of wisdom and auspicious onsets. They also perform Govardhan Puja, a form to worship Mount Govardhan, which is believed to have defended the people of Vrindavan from Lord Indra’s wrath. 

 

 On the fifth and final day of Diwali, sisters visit their sisters’ homes and admit aarti and tika from them. This day is known as Bhai Dooj, and it celebrates the special bond between sisters and sisters. 

 

 Diwali is a time for families and communities to come together and celebrate. It’s a time to reflect on the good effects in life, and to supplicate for a prosperous and happy future. 

 

 How to celebrate Diwali

 

 There are numerous ways to celebrate Diwali. There are many ideas:

  1.  Clean and embellish your home. 
  2.  Light diyas and candles each over your home and business. 
  3.  Prepare special sweets and dishes to be participated with family and musketeers. 
  4.  Worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. 
  5.  Exchange gifts with loved bones. 
  6.  Burst firecrackers( if allowed in your area). 
  7.  Visit your sisters’ homes on Bhai Dooj. 
  8.  Most importantly, spend time with your loved bones
  9.  And celebrate the jubilee of lights, substance, and joy. 

 

 Diwali is a beautiful and joyful jubilee that celebrates the palm of light over darkness, good over wrong, and knowledge over ignorance.
