Earthquake of Magnitude 5.6 Jolts Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand

 

A Strong Earthquake Jolts Pithoragarh

 An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 jolted Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand on August 4, 2023, at 417 pm. The center of the earthquake was in Nepal, about 150 km from Pithoragarh. 

 The earthquake was felt in several corridors of the Pithoragarh quarter, including Dharchula, Didihat, and Bangapani. People rushed out of their homes and services in fear. 

 

 No Damage Reported

 Fortunately, no damage to life or property has been reported so far. The District Disaster Management Authority( DDMA) has advised people to stay alert and to take necessary preventives. 

 

 People Advised to Stay Alert

  The DDMA has advised people to stay in open areas during an earthquake and to avoid altitudinous structures and trees. People have also been advised to keep a first-aid tackler and an arsonist handy in case of an exigency. 

 

 What to Do in Case of an Earthquake

  5.  After the earthquake, check yourself and others for injuries. However, give first aid and call for medical help, If someone is injured.
