Joao Felix Steals the Show as Barcelona Thrash Antwerp 5-0 in Champions League Opener

Joao Felix announced himself to the Camp Nou faithful in style on Tuesday night, scoring twice and assisting another in Barcelona’s 5-0 thrashing of Antwerp in their Champions League opener.

The Portuguese star, who joined from Atletico Madrid in the summer, was the catalyst for everything good that Barcelona did on the night. He opened the scoring with a superb finish into the bottom corner, then teed up Robert Lewandowski for the second.

Felix added Barca’s fifth with an excellent back-post header after Raphinha’s teasing cross. It was a stunning display, with every touch important.

Lewandowski also had a fine evening, scoring two goals of his own. The Polish international showed his predatory instincts for the first, converting from close range after Felix had hit the post.

He doubled his tally in the second half with a powerful header from a Gavi cross.

Gavi also got on the scoresheet, curling a beautiful free-kick into the top corner.

It was a perfect start to the Champions League campaign for Barcelona, and they will be hoping to continue their good form when they travel to Bayern Munich next week.
