Pakistan Captain Babar Azam Admits Sri Lanka Played Better Cricket in Asia Cup Elimination
Pakistan captain Babar Azam has admitted that Sri Lanka played better justice in their Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match, which Pakistan lost by two lattices.
In a post-match press conference, Azam said” Sri Lanka played really well, they played better justice than us, that is why they won.”
Pakistan were the favorite to win the match, but they were outplayed by Sri Lanka in all departments. Sri Lanka’s bowlers were more disciplined and their batsmen were more aggressive.
Azam said that Pakistan’s bowlers plodded to contain Sri Lanka’s batsmen in the middle overs. He also said that Pakistan’s batsmen didn’t club well enough in the death overs.
” We did not drift well in the middle overs,” Azam said.” We’re starting well and finishing well, but in the middle overs, we aren’t over to the mark. That is why we could not win the moment.”
Azam’s admission that Sri Lanka played better justice is a rare bone from a captain. It’s a sign that Azam is willing, to be honest with himself and his platoon about their sins.
